I like the over all effect - lots of diverse textures and shapes. I'm sure you'll tailor it to your own taste here pretty soon. In the meantime it looks really fine. My favorite plant is the bunch grass on the corner.

Some good background info about the settlement of Rogers Park in the late 19th century by Luxembourg immigrants can be found in 2 books by Neal Samors entitled "A History of Rogers Park and Westridge" and "Neighborhoods Within Neighborhoods". It's great stuff if you 're a local history enthusiast.

Great post, Rachel. I hadn't noticed it before. I do recall eating at the soda counter in Wooworth's with Mom one time as we waited for the Sears mechanic to come unlock our car.

Oh, I like that. It IS funny, at least for those of us in the peanut gallery. Have you read the part at the end where you try to stop nursing the baby? Oh, that's fun too.

Way back after Christmas I came across your card someplace on the internet and when I came here to return a comment you left on Chicago Garden I was looking through your blog and saw this post. What a small internet we live in.

I found another photo of Rufus Reuben Tucker in a forgotten photo album I put together some years ago. It is not archival so I think I better put the pictures in a new one sometime...
