Here is something I had nothing to do with, and only found because of the name, but I really like! Mel Morgan has written a mystery series featuring Jess Braun, a recently divorced woman who has returned to the small Minnesota town where her grandmother and eccentric aunt lived and opened a thrift shop. Her love interest is a local restaurant owner who makes great soups and cheesecake! There is a sassy cat, and a loveable big dog named Sheriff, and a teen neighbor eager to help solve crimes when the inevitable murder takes place.
Past settings have included antique stores, swap meets and auctions, old farms and bizarre mansions. Best of all, there is an addendum at the end of each book describing a collectable featured in the story and the current market for it. This series is perfectly tailored to my tastes! If it didn’t exist, I would have to write it myself.
I read the first 13 books in 2023-24 and recently found that another has been published, so I’m enjoying The Priceless Perjury. And I just learned that The Recycled Ransom comes out January 19th. I read these with a Kindle Unlimited subscription but may need to buy the books as well to show the author my support.
