Thoughts on 50

I am now vintage.

My 50th and 51st years have been some of the best of my life. I have been able to travel and see friends and family, and plan to continue that this year. I spent a wonderful May weekend in Lake Geneva with Aimee, Amy and Kathy shopping, eating and talking, and a November weekend with Cindy, Sunny, Leanne and Amy doing the same. I’ve been to multiple art museums including exhibitions of Andy Warhol and Georgia O’Keeffe. My son is doing great as a freshman in a new school. My husband is a rock-n-roller.

I work with an awesome team that is led by a close friend. I still feel like one of the “young people” at work, which is weird. Maybe it has something to do with the stereotype of Gen X as latch-key kids and disaffected youth. Maybe it’s got something to do with the number of Legos in my office.

I’m trying to keep my body in shape. I got my bike tuned up at my friend’s totally rad bike shop last year and want to ride it more this spring and summer. I try to do yoga once a week and recently started a weight training class with Janine, and would like to resume my core work with her. I also need to get out and walk more with my ladies. Those are my goals, anyway.

Feeling good about where I am.
