I enjoyed making my last post a collection of photos, and uploading photos to Flickr that had been sitting on my phone and computer. So here are some of my favorite photos of my cats over the years:
Mom and Sumo circa 1985 at our home in Donovan. This photo has been framed on the wall to show only her face for many years, but I took it out recently to scan. Sumo was not our first family Siamese cat, but he is the one I remember. When we lived in the house north of Beaverville, Sumo would hide under the bed and then run out and grab our bare feet with his claws. He was an indoor/outdoor cat and liked to catch fieldmice.
My cat Tomas on a window sill. I got Tomas as a kitten at a garage sale near Herscher in 1997. He was a very dark Siamese with a white patch in his armpit. He lived with me at all 10 of my apartments in Chicago including the last 2 with Jim. Unfortunately he liked to terrorize Jim, who had to fight him off with a chair!
Our sweet kitty Snatch in 2009. I inherited this dainty girl from my friend Eric when he left Chicago for Arizona in the early 2000s. She especially loved Jim.

Instagram star Emily #catinabasket, 2015. That was the year she was adopted. We went to the Animal Care League looking for one cat and came home with two!
Her photogenic brother, Praeprero, 2023. Simon named him after his imaginary baby sister who “got eated by a shark.” More recently Jim and Simon have told me I spell the name wrong, but I swear this is what Simon wrote out when he was five!
