Earrings from far and wide

I have a vast collection of earrings. Some are vintage, others were gifts; some I made, and many I bought in my travels. They are some of my favorite accessories, along with purses.

The earrings above were acquired at the Japanese Garden in Jardin botanique de Montréal (black drops with plum blossoms), the SoWa Art + Design District in Boston (silver egg drops), an art market in downtown San Francisco (origami cranes), and St. Philip’s Plaza in Tucson (turquoise beads).

Earrings from Fort Collins

I have purchased so many earrings on my trips to visit Aunt Pam in Fort Collins, Colorado that they deserve their own spotlight. The scarf in the background was a gift from my mother-in-law, Toni. These are made of copper, paper, sun print paper, pressed flower petals, and ceramic.

Weddings earrings

The earrings on the “R” are some I associate with our wedding in 2009. The pearl drops were from Toni’s wedding and I thought I might wear them. The off-white drops below them are vintage pikake-bloom earrings, a flower I wanted for my wedding leis (but they were not available, so I had beautiful tuberose). On the upper right are earrings that Toni gave me, the ones I actually wore in the wedding and that I still wear frequently. On the lower right are koa-wood earrings that I bought on our honeymoon, I believe in Honokaʻa, where many of Jim’s mom’s family live.

The beaded earrings below are pairs that I have made over the years. I use a lot of Czech glass and recently I’ve experimented with copper-colored findings.

Earrings I have made
Earrings by friends

And these earrings were made by my talented friends Evonne, Carli and Amy. They are extremely talented and inspiring!

I love this! The earrings are so pretty, and so You, and your displays against backgrounds that suggest travel to faraway places is perfect. So cool you remember where you acquired your earrings and the personal stories behind them. My favorite story is about the ruby red earrings Toni gave to you and that you wore at your wedding.
